Question #1:

Why do men wear long board shorts?

It seems like the least logical piece of swimwear ever invented. They feel nasty when you get out of the pool, they track dirt and debris into the pool, they weigh you down in the water and create drag making it easier to drown, they make you have to discreetly "adjust" from time to time and they feel like they're going to come off if you jump in the water the wrong way.

I recently bought Speedo style swim briefs and have been wearing them to the pool ever since. I have never received any complaints from anyone and no one has laughed or teased me for wearing them, even in this Bible belt part of the country. I've worn them to the pool, on the beach, even in very family oriented places and no one seems to care. And why should they? I'm young, I have a good body, and my endowment is nothing to be ashamed of. I have gotten a few pervy comments and looks from the fair sex (double standard anyone?) but, oh well. It feels great not wearing those old clown pants that were so cumbersome anymore.

So why don't more men wear briefs, given the advantages? Are you guys afraid of being called gay? I would think it would be gayer for a man to pick on another man for wearing a Speedo. Are you scared about the size of your thing? It's not like you would have gotten to sleep with every hot woman at the pool, or that you would even care what the less attractive ones think. Is it about not wanting to see your friends in the same kind of swimsuit? Are you afraid you'll wake up some latent gay tendencies or get hit on by gay guys? Scared that women and children are going to think you're a pervert? None of those fears are real. A piece of fabric isn't going to change the wiring of your brain, and I've played pool games like polo with kids who weren't the least bit bothered by my swimsuit, and neither were their parents looking on. Oh, and if a gay guy hits on you - something which still hasn't happened to me - just tell him, "Thanks for the compliment, but, not interested." Problem solved.

So why do you still wear those douchey knee length board shorts? You're not gaining anything. They just take up extra room in your suitcase. Seriously, why?

Question #3:

Should I Buy The Bikini?

I am in the process of losing weight I have gone from a size 16 to a size 12 in 9 weeks. I still have 36 more pounds to lose to be at my goal of a healthy BMI. I plan to reach this goal by January or February of 2011. Every year our family takes a trip to Florida in May. I have always been uncomfortable in bathing suits usually wearing a dress over my suit all day. I have been looking online and every store seems to be clearencing out there swimwear at super low prices. I really would like to be in a bikini for our Florida trip this next summer as I am only 21 and haven't been able to wear one since I was like 14. Should I go ahead and buy a few cute bikinis for next year? I know for a fact I will end up losing the 36 pounds. I have dedicated my life to a healthy life style I will never ever shop in the plus size section again!

i actually go in the pool and swim, and i kayak on a lake. im 12, 5 ft 5 in, 100 lbs, 32a bra. oh, and do you think wearing a pattern bottom with a solid top looks weird?

Question #5:

bikini's to fit?! please help!?

im 15, haven't started my periods, im really petite and am only 5ft tall and have a 32aa bra that i dont even fill out but its the smallest i can get! where IN THE UK can i get nice bikini's/swimwear that will fit my bust without wearing cutesey kiddie clothes? will size 6 (UK) fit my boobs or be too big? if size 6 (UK) is too big what can i do?!!
im not that bothered about making them look bigger i just want it to fit :)

Question #6:

Where is the best place to find vintage sewing patterns?

You can see I'm looking for patterns from the 50s and 60s. All kinds of patterns: dresses, jackets, shirts, skirts, pants and accurate undergarments and swimwear.

Size isn't much of a concern because if can be modified, but I'm trying to stay within some kind of price range - so I don't really want to be directed someplace that is going to charge me $68 for the design to a straight and plain dress. (But if that's all you know, the input is welcome.)

Any help you can offer would be great, and thank you in advance!

Question #7:

where can I find cheap swimwear small sizes?

I really dont have much money left and really need a bikini/tankini ? please help! :)
uk pleaasse

Question #8:

Wtf!? I used an online calculator to find my swim suit size and...?

And when I clicked the link to "view styles in my size," all that came up was pregnancy suits! This wasn't on a pregnancy swimwear site, so I'm slightly offended and confused! I'M NOT FAT!

My underbust measurement is 32
My waist is 24 inches around
My hips are 38
My shoulders are 37
My bust is 43
And my body is about 55 inches from my butt to my neck

So WHY are all of the suits recommended to me for pregnant women!?!? It gave me the size "10E" without considering waist size or weight... I've got abnormally large boobs because I'm nursing, but I'm technically underweight with a BMI of about 17.5... It didn't even factor that.

Do I sound fat to you? I'm sorry if this sounds ridiculous, offensive, stupid, or trollish, but I've been struggling with eating disorders my entire life and this is really kind of getting to me... Why would it suggest pregnancy swimwear? =[
It's giving me the "Sue Rice" size...

I re-entered it 3 times and it's still giving me the same stuff.

Again, I couldn't have put the bust size in the waist size box because there was no waist measurement box.
I am an adult, so if I'm looking in the adult's section, there should be no problems.

Swimwear Sizes For Bust?

Basically I am a size 10 all over but my chest size is 34DD. I am wanting to order some swimwear on-line but the majority of tops are 8,10,12,14 etc.. Does anybody know roughly what size I should be aiming for? Thanks

Question #14:

What body type would this swimsuit suit?

This caught my eye the other day in a shop but they didn't have any in my size so I couldn't try it on. Just wondered what sort of body it would suit - I'm tall and curvy and not sure if the boy leg cut would make me look wider or if the extra length would be a good thing...

Question #15:

Style and body image problem. People think im a dude some times :(?

Hey, so i have this problem with people thinking im a dude.
im almost 14 years old, and im 5'6. i weigh 120 pounds, and my body most resembles a timeglass shape. my breasts are average sized, but i still think they are too big for me to be comfortable. whenever i get my period, i get really embarrassed and just want to die more than anything, its really THAT bad. now, my problem is that some people think im a dude, and others just stare.
i have medium long, champagne blonde hair, and i usually straighten it. i don't care what people say about me, but this really hurts.
my style is basically:
skinny jeans (black, blue, pink, red, turquoise, purple, green etc)
large t shirts (band shirts, cartoon shirts, tie dye shirts, and so on)
hoodies (usually grey or black)
converse/vans

so, if i feel im wearing a bra, i get really uncomfortable and embarrassed. i do wear underwire or training bras, cause sports bras are uncomfortable. if i wear tight clothes, im afraid men will stare at my chest (i have a lot of weird phobias)
Im not comfortable wearing:
tight clothing
clothes made from thin materials
things that are ''in style'' (i hate trends)
showing cleavage
wearing tank tops / having my shoulders visible
wearing dresses/skirts
hotpants/very short shorts

i buy most of my clothes at places like hot topic, and other stores like that.
if i feel myself breathing, i feel very uncomfortable for some reason.
I don't go swimming in the summer, cause i cant wear swimwear.
so, my question is: how can i dress so that i wont be mistaken for a guy, without use a lot of money, or doing any of the things listed above. i do wear makeup, and my face is girly (i guess), but ive always been a tomboy.

DO NOT say its just something i have to get over, cause ive tried, and it doesn't work. period. i feel like the only person who can help me is Gok Wan :(
i just don't know what to do :/

ill add more details later, i guess

Question #20:

Help me find plus-size swimming leggings?

Ok, I'm not about to hop into a pool in regular leggings and hope I don't drown, but there used to be a site that made custom, modest swimwear with sleeves and leggings, I think it was for the LDS community. For some reason, my google-fu is weak today, and I can't find the website. If anyone knows the website I'm talking about, or a website that has ankle-length swimming leggings, I'd appreciate the help!
